Global Mission Work
Since 2004, members of our congregation have supported mission work in Quimistan, Honduras through both participation in mission trips and financial aid. The two organizations we are affiliated with are:
One of the primary missions of Starkville Presbyterian Church is supporting the Tejeras Meal Program.
In 2007, an HAF mission team discovered children scrounging through the local dump for food. They were children of families who live between the edge of a major highway and fences of property owners' cow pastures, essentially in a wide, shallow ditch. The area is known as Tejeras. Since then, HAF has built houses and latrines, installed water pipes, provided basic health services, built a multipurpose community building used for church, kindergarten, and serving meals through the Tejeras Meal Program. This feeding program provides about 70 children with hot, nutritious meals served three times a week.
You can help support this mission with a donation. The cost of food and preparation of the meal along with a Bible lesson is $80. If you would like to sponsor a meal, please make checks payable to Starkville Presbyterian Church for $80 and note on the check “Tejeras Meal Program”. Meals may be sponsored in memory of a loved one or in honor of a birthday or anniversary. Checks may be put in the collection plate on Sunday or mailed to Pat Colwick, 1006 South Montgomery Street, Starkville, MS 39759.
If you would like additional information on this program, or on the Hondura Agape Foundation, or the Tranquilidad Foundation, you may contact those organizations through their web sites above, or you may contact Melanie Mullenax.

Matthew 25 Church
Believing that we are called to act boldly and compassionately to serve the people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned, or poor, Starkville Presbyterian Church was one of the first churches to become a Matthew 25 Church. We have chosen to focus on all three are three areas of the Matthew 25 program which include Congregational Vitality, Dismantling Structural Racism, and Eradicating Systemic Poverty.
For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited Me in,
I needed clothes and you clothed Me,
I was sick and you looked after Me,
I was in prison and you came to visit Me.
Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry
and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink?
When did we see You a stranger and invite You in,
or needing clothes and clothe You?
When did we see You sick or in prison and go to visit You?'
The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one
of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for Me.'
-- Matthew 25:35-40

Casserole Kitchen
In 2008, one of our members, Gery Cummings, had a vision of providing meals to the hungry in Starkville by having local churches and organizations prepare casseroles that could be easily heated and served. Over time, the program grew to involve providing complete meals several times during the week. The program became known as Casserole Kitchen and although Gery has passed away, his visioning passion for mission lives on through this program.
Starkville Presbyterian Church provides a meal to this program on the fifth Saturday's of the month. Please let us know if you like to help support this ministry through preparing a portion of a meal or providing financial support.
